Kuala Lumpur, 20 September 2026 – As media partner, I covered the 48th Global Edition of World AI Show – Malaysia at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 9–10 September 2026. More than 1,500 business and technology leaders, policymakers and enterprise decision-makers packed the venue for two days of high-impact dialogue.

Honest confession: I was so focused on covering sessions, the expo floor and interviews that I completely forgot to take a selfie at the entrance as a personal record. The badge photo at the top is the only proof I was actually there!

The summit was officially opened by YBhg. Datuk Fabian Bigar, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital. With 50+ speakers from Bank Negara Malaysia, Khazanah Nasional, PETRONAS, CelcomDigi, NACSA and more, the programme stayed firmly on execution across four themes: AI infrastructure and sovereign cloud, enterprise AI deployment at scale, AI in government and GLCs, and AI security, governance and trust.

What struck me most: a banker, a telco executive, a regulator and a retailer all agreed on one thing – Malaysia’s AI bottleneck is no longer technology, but trusted infrastructure, governance and talent. That government-enterprise alignment is what turns the AI Nation 2030 vision into an executable roadmap.

As a robotics educator from Hong Kong, I left with one takeaway: the region’s AI build-out will need classrooms, competitions and creators as much as compute. Trescon has set a high bar for what an ASEAN enterprise AI summit should feel like – focused, senior, and genuinely commercial.
